SABERS ARE PERFECT
- Updated: October 24, 2013

The Maine Sabers will host the New England Football League championship after defeating the Boston Bandits 24-7 at Memorial Stadium in Portland Saturday.
The Sabers (12-0) dominated the Bandits (8-4) on both sides of the ball, giving up a lone touchdown on a fumble return with 25 seconds remaining in the first half.
Ron Burgundy opened the scoring for the Sabers with a 27 yard field goal, followed by touchdown runs of 22 and 12 yards by Bonny Eagle"s John Wiechman. Former Husson Quarterback Jeremy Shorey also completed a 43 yard touchdown pass to former Edward Little WR Shane Ciriello.
Defensively, Wes Meyers had an interception for a Sabers defense that allowed no points and never let Boston past the Sabers 35 yard line.
The win earns the Sabers the right to host the 20th Annual NEFL Championship. They have the ability to follow the accomplishment of the Western Mass Warriors last season with an undefeated regular and post season run. &ldquot;It has been a great year for us&rdquot; said Shorey, &ldquot;winning a championship in front of our home crowd would be the best.&rdquot;
