Akeem Wright (pictured above) looks to keep the Gators undefeated

GAME OF THE WEEK

CT Panthers (4-1) @ Bridgeport Gators (5-0)

Week Five

 Panthers

Gators

Players To Watch

David Reese, last season's Defensive Player of the Year, plans to control the game from his defensive end position.

Akeem Wright has the ability to impact the game both on offense and in the return game.

Game Keys

With an inconsistent offense, expect the Panthers defense and special teams to set the pace of the game.

The highest scoring offense will look to pressure the Panthers with their balanced attack.

The Skinny

This matchup pits multiple former teammates from the defunked Connecticut Bearcats. &ldquot; We played on the same field together last year, now we're on opposite sides; this will be interesting&rdquot; said Panthers Jamar Rawles.

The undefeated Gators have the highest scoring offense in the league but what has been overshadowed is their highly rated defense. &ldquot; Our offense gets a lot of deserved attention&rdquot; said linebacker Dante Williams, &ldquot;but our defense has sets the tone for our team since week one.&rdquot; Williams leads the Gators with 7 tackles per game while the team is allowing less than 13 points per contest.

Expected to run through the AAA schedule, the Panthers season has only been sidelined by a six point loss to the Militia in week four. &ldquot; We turned the ball over 6 times that week and had over 120 yards in penalties and we still had a chance to win the game&rdquot; said Rawles. With a sidelined Rich Snowden (10 TD passes), the Panthers will have to find offense from other players this week.

Viewed as the fastest team in the NEFL, the Gators speed will be matched by the Panthers at nearly every position. Aggressive defenses and kick returners who can change the game in one play, expect a lot of action this weekend at Kennedy Stadium.
