Players To Watch | Perennial All Star Jamar Rawles is the newest veteran brought in to help the Militia take that championship leap. Facing his former teammates, expect Rawles to be on top of his game against the Panthers. | The 6’3 Akwon Shabazz was a key target for Rich Snowden during their championship run last season. Lining up opposite Jamie “Rocket” Bryant, Shabazz usually receives the favorable matchups. |
Keys To Victory |
2. Avoid the “big plays” from the Panthers 3. Win field position with the kicking game |
1. Limit turnovers in the red zone
2. Get all-purpose yards from Jamie Bryant. 3. Play CTP Defense |
The Skinny | The Militia’s balanced offensive attack is now protected by a grade-A defense. MVP Raq Taft is now supported by Rawles and UCONN product Marvin Taylor to form a formidable secondary. The run defense with Hardison Freeman and Anthony Aponte held opponents to less than 3 yards a carry last season.
Coming off a National Championship season and defeating the highly touted Brooklyn (NY) Seminoles in the preseason, the Panthers are looking to make a run at two in a row. Headlined by a stellar defense and the best returners in the NEFL, the Panthers recipe for success is proven. This has been the most competitive matchup in the division over the past two seasons with all games being decided by less than a touchdown. How will Dwight Franklin and Rawles compete against their former teammates? Will a healthy Snowden regain his MVP form? These questions and more will be answered by arguably the top two teams in the NEFL. What a way to kick off the season!!!!! |
