Coming off of a 31-28 overtime victory over the Western CT Militia, the Chiefs are confident heading into this pivotal division matchup. The win was a result of opportunistic defense (three interceptions, one return for a touchdown and a game opening fumble recovery for a touchdown) and a well-executed run game headlined by Aaron Taylor and Wolfolk (147 yards combined). The Chiefs will have to bank on the same game plan to defeat the high-flying Panthers. Rich Snowden has twice the number of touchdown passes (10) than anyone in the division. A receiving corps headed by Akwan Shabazz and Jamie Bryant is arguably the best in the NEFL. “We have a lot of weapons” said Coach Welch, “we just hope to keep playing at this level.” Their 31-18 victory over the Chiefs in week two pushed the Panthers to extreme heights. Over the past two weeks they have scored an amazing 98 points while only allowing 7 in the last six quarters of play. The Chiefs are no slouch shutting out the PV Knights and gutting out the extra period win against the Militia last week. “The Chiefs aren’t a NEW team anymore”, said Patrick, “they got some wins and some players; this will be a good one this week.” |
