Week Five
Panthers
Chiefs

Players To Watch Gerald Patrick is a dominant
run stopper who has a great
ability to cover the pass. His 18 yard interception return for a
score set up their week two win over the Chiefs
Former CCSU standout Kevin Wolfolk leads the Chiefs in yards per carry. He ran for a season high 76 yards against the Militia last weekend in their overtime win.

Keys To Victory After two consecutive 20+ point victories, the Panthers must gear up for the upset minded Chiefs Chiefs must establish the run and utilize tight ends Anthony Jubles and Kameel Lashley in the play action game.

The Skinny This mid-season game could decide home field advantage in the playoffs for either of these teams.

Coming off of a 31-28 overtime victory over the Western CT Militia, the Chiefs are confident heading into this pivotal division matchup. The win was a result of opportunistic defense (three interceptions, one return for a touchdown and a game opening fumble recovery for a touchdown) and a well-executed run game headlined by Aaron Taylor and Wolfolk (147 yards combined). The Chiefs will have to bank on the same game plan to defeat the high-flying Panthers.

Rich Snowden has twice the number of touchdown passes (10) than anyone in the division. A receiving corps headed by Akwan Shabazz and Jamie Bryant is arguably the best in the NEFL. “We have a lot of weapons” said Coach Welch, “we just hope to keep playing at this level.”

Their 31-18 victory over the Chiefs in week two pushed the Panthers to extreme heights. Over the past two weeks they have scored an amazing 98 points while only allowing 7 in the last six quarters of play. The Chiefs are no slouch shutting out the PV Knights and gutting out the extra period win against the Militia last week. “The Chiefs aren’t a NEW team anymore”, said Patrick, “they got some wins and some players; this will be a good one this week.”
