PORTLAND,ME – The Southern Maine Raging Bulls (12-0) continue their undefeated streak as they dismantled the Boston Bandits 41-3 earning a trip to the AAA Championship game.
The Bulls won the battle at the line of scrimmage as they collected over 350 yards on the ground. Running back John Wiechman collected 3 touchdown runs and 135 yards on the ground. Phil Warren continued his dominate play with a score and a game high 167 yards rushing. Alexis Colon paced the passing attack completing 7 or 10 passes including a touchdown strike to receiver Mark Roberts. “They are the most balanced team in the NEFL” said a League Representative, “but when its’ said and done they will try to run the ball right at you.”
The Bulls defense limited the Bandits to less than 100 yards of offense and no third down conversions until the fourth quarter. Kicker Steve Goodrich impacted special teams by successfully kicking three field goals. “They have all parts of their team moving in the right direction and they seem to be getting better as the season goes.”
The Bulls will host the Connecticut Panthers (11-1) Saturday night for their quest to win it all. The defending champion Panthers defeated the Western CT Militia 6-3 Sunday evening for their second consecutive trip to the big game. “We know the Panthers have a championship pedigree; we have to play our best game of the season Saturday night to finish the season the way we want to.”
