Issaiah Bachelder sets up for a first half pass
PORTLAND, ME – The Southern Maine Raging Bulls put together a superior game plan as they spear the once undefeated Middleboro Cobras 27-2 at Fitzpatrick Stadium. “We had a great week of practice and the players were excited to play against the Cobras. We are finally starting to gel and get everyone on the same page,” said Head Coach Ronnie Bates.
The Raging Bulls used a balance attack to keep the Cobras defense off balance. Running back Teven Colon finished the game with 113 rushing yards and a score. “When Teven gets going early he’s hard to stop.” Colon running success allowed quarterback Issaiah Bachelder to find his receivers open down the field. Bachelder connected with Jordan Jones for a 90 yard touchdown catch. The completion was the longest in Bachelder’s career.
Defensively the Raging Bulls held the Cobras to less than 80 yards of total offense. Defensive standout Anthony Hicks finished the game with two interceptions, one in which he returned for a score.
“AAA is totally up for grabs this year,” said Bates, “The coaching and talent of the players is as good as its’ ever been – its’ all going to come down to who stays healthy, travels well, and gets hot in September.”
The Bulls look to continue their winning ways as they take on the Granite State Destroyers (1-4) in week 6. The Destroyers are coming off a big 35-0 win over the Mass State Wolverines. The Cobras will return home and host the North Shore Generals (3-2).
