Springfield, MA – In their fight for a top seed in the upcoming playoffs, the Western Mass Armor derail the Connecticut Panthers 18-16. The win places the Armor in third place in a very competitive Southern Division.
Aaron Flythe continues his high-octane season with another touchdown pass to Kayshawn Brantley early in the game. Flythe leads the NEFL with 18 touchdown passes. “He’s coming into his own this season,” said Armor owner Ben Torro. “He just makes plays when we need them.” In the second half Flythe used his legs to get in the end zone on a 5 yard run. The two-point conversions by both Cordelle Simmonds and Bobby Grimes made the difference in the game. “We throw the ball alot but when we need to get in the end zone few are better than the running backs we have,” said Flythe.
Panthers All-Stars Jamie Bryant and Moose Welch did all they could do to secure the game but couldn’t make it happen. “They’ve had an overtime loss, along with two defeats by a combined 10 points. They just are not making the plays they need when the game is on the line,” said a fellow conference opponent.
The Armor now can prepare for their rematch with the Connecticut Bearcats after the Labor Day break. The Armor lost to the Bearcats 12-6 in Week 2. “They maybe gave the Bearcats their tightest game all season in week two; this will clearly be a big game for both teams.”
