Bandits Win QB Showdown
- Updated: August 1, 2014

Adam Headley threw 2 TD passes vs. the Colonials
The Boston Bandits fell behind early but came back to beat the Metro-West Colonials 21-14. The game was billed as a showdown of up and coming quarterbacks in the NEFL featuring the Bandits second year signal caller Adam Headley (Pace University) and the Colonials newcomer James Suozzo (Merrimack College/ NY Giants).
The Colonials took a first quarter lead on an 80 yard drive capped by a six yard run by Emmanuelle Versailles. The Bandits would not only bounce back, but they did so with three scores in the second quarter. JD Brooks found the end zone on a 2 yard run to tie the game. Adam Headley would then connect twice with Fitz Lee for touchdown passes of 53 and 35 yards to extend the lead to 21-7 with three successful PATs by Chris Conroy.
Ant Thomas set up the Bandits’ third score with an interception. Marcus Smith recovered a fumble as well. The Colonials would threaten in the fourth quarter but were thwarted on the goal line by an Alvin Edwards’ interception. The Bandits would take over on their own one yard line but could not manage a first down and had to punt the ball away. The Colonials took advantage of the short field when quarterback Suozzo hit receiver Miguel Ortiz for a touchdown pass to cut the lead to 21-14 with minutes to play.
The Bandits would end the Colonials’ last ditch attempt to tie the game on Alvin Edwards’ second interception of the night. “It was a great battle between two quarterbacks we can see battling each other for years to come” said a NEFL representative.
The Bandits will enjoy their bye week and prepare to host take on their long-time rival Lowell Nor’Easter. The Colonials take on the North Shore Generals and will look to get into the win column.
