2022 Maritime Championship

We’ve seen so many times, these teams traveled to their goal by very different roads, but both arrived exactly where they worked to end up since spring practices.
The Warriors have been on a perfect run, logging eight straight wins. Following their unbeaten regular season, in which they controlled games and were often dominant, they met the rising RI Riptide in the semifinals. In the Riptide they were meeting an opponent that was strong all season and just a couple of weeks back had given them their toughest battle of the year. The rematch did not disappoint! Another hard fought 60-minute battle tested the Warriors to the finish as they showed their mettle and earned their spot in the Championship Game.
The Ravens’ road was rocky in the early weeks as they hunted down their identity. It soon became clear as they used a tough defense and a scrappy offense in close battle after close battle. The Ravens played very tight games and found a knack for squeezing out narrow wins, often in the last minutes. Their semifinal playoff game would prove to be more of the same as they traveled to Rhode Island to face the #2 seed RI Raptors. A formidable first-year squad, the Raptors were able to edge the Ravens early in the season by a single point. The rematch was similar as the Raptors took a 6-2 lead into the 4th quarter of a defensive struggle, only to see the Ravens claw and scratch their way down the field for their only TD drive of the day when it mattered most.
The NEFL Maritime Conference’s Final Showdown is set for Saturday night at Wayland, Mass. High School at 6:30pm.
