Cunningham Heads to the New York Giants

Jerome Cunningham pulls in a touchdown pass against the Panthers

HAMDEN, CT-The Connecticut Chiefs’ Jerome Cunningham becomes the latest NEFL player to get a shot at the big time. The tight end has been signed as a free agent with the New York Giants.

“We’re all very excited for him” said Chiefs owner John Mancinelli, “an opportunity like this one doesn’t come by too often so you have to jump at it.” The 6’3 Cunningham is one of six tight ends brought in to compete for a roster spot with the NFC East team.

“Jerome is in a pretty good position being in the Giants camp; they don’t have a returning starter in camp and with a new coordinator, a few good practices and preseason games, you may get the chance you need.” Mancinelli is well aware of the pro football process. He was a longtime NFL scout and was the general manager of the Arena Football New Haven Ninjas. “The NEFL is a great place for guys like Jerome to land; they can play competitive ball and stay in shape in case they get an opportunity.” The Chiefs actually boast 4 other players who have limited NFL experience on their roster.
