Colonials Weather Nor’easter

The Metrowest Colonials fight the elements and the Lowell Nor’easter in a 21-0 victory Saturday night.

“We had to deal with a tough Nor’easter team and the weather tonight” said the Colonials J.R. Suozzo, “our guys hung in there all night and we got the win.” A thick fog covered the field and made playing a challenge. Having to alter their offensive game plans, both teams went into halftime scoreless and hoping for a change in the weather.

The intermission allowed the fog to lift which sparked the Colonials offense. The Metrowest was paced by running backs Brian Arthur and Emanuele Versailles. Suozzo led the passing attack completing his first 4 passes in the third quarter which put the Generals in scoring position. A handoff to Versailles gave the Colonials their first score of the night. His two additional rushing scores put the game out of reach for the Nor’easter.

Kicker James Calihan proved to be a force throughout the night going 3 for 3 with extra points. He also put the Nor’easter in poor field position with both strong kicks and punts. Defensive back Brandon Lovelace had three tackles along with two interceptions to lead the defense in the shutout. “Leaving Lowell scoreless is no easy task; everybody running to the ball each play was the key for us tonight.”

The Colonials look to spoil the undefeated season of top seeded Southern Maine Raging Bulls as they travel to Portland, Maine this weekend. “We know we have to play a perfect game to slow down the Bulls; we are excited about it however and look forward to Saturday night.”
