Charge Out In Front

Junior Brown pulls in a scoring catch in week 1 action

The New Hampshire Charge took a huge step in week one with their defeat of the Southern Maine Raging Bulls. Their 16-12 victory gave them a great welcoming to the Colonial Conference (AAA). “Most teams come up to AAA and struggle to find their way for a few week,” said a rival coach. “The Charge may have something special brewing this season.”

Although the Charge were an AA competitor last season, their acquisition of some AAA veterans may make them a dangerous opponent right away. Throwing 16 regular season touchdowns for the Bulls last year, quarterback Alexis Colon showed that he fit in perfectly with the Charge offensive system. Colon was 18-36 for 268 yards and threw a touchdown pass against his former team. His favorite target was Junior Brown who finished the day with 8 catches for 162 yards and a score. Also making noise was future Hall of Famer Malcom Wynn. The former Nor’easter star finished the game with 15 tackles and 2 sacks. “These guys still have some game left in them; performances like this show it.”

We will see if the Charge can keep it going this week as the 2015 NEFL Champion Boston Bandits visit them for the GAME OF THE WEEK in the NEFL. The Bandits won a tight battle with the Rampage 24-14 behind a 3 touchdown passing day from Carzell Pearl. “”This game will show us right away if the Charge are going to be legit contenders this year or a few seasons away from truly making something happen.”
