WALLINGFORD, CT After a three year hiatus, the Connecticut Bearcats defend their home turf in their 26-6 win against the Connecticut Panthers. The 2010 and 2011 AAA Champions Bearcats called Rititelli Field their home during their 2009-2012 stay in the NEFL. “It was great to be back at our old game field” said defensive end David Reese, “we’ve won some big games here; it felt like old times tonight”.

The Bearcats used a balanced offensive attack throughout torrential down pour on Saturday night. The run game was paced by Montrell Dobbs (2 TD’s) and Justin Wilson (TD) while quarterback Ryan Falaguerra threw for over 150 yards in his first career start. “We had some missing pieces but we were able to put together a solid game on both sides of the ball” said head coach Dom Colivito.

Defensively, the Bearcats limited the Panthers ground game to less than 100 yards. That allowed rushers like Reese (3 sacks) to get after the passer. Jerhome Bunch picked off a pass intended for Akwan Shabazz and returned it for a score.

After their week one loss to the Western Connecticut Militia, the Bearcats have won two regular season games in a row. They will face the Militia this weekend to complete their home at home series. “The last few games will give us a lot of confidence going into the Militia game” said Colivito, “we know we have to play our best to compete with those guys this weekend; they are one of the league’s best for a reason”.

On Saturday night, the Bearcats will also honor members of their 2010 and 2011 back to back championship teams during a halftime ceremony.
