Bandits advance with win over Wolfpack
- Updated: October 20, 2014
The Boston Bandits held off the New Hampshire Wolfpack 7-6 to advance to the North Conference semi-finals. Minutes before kickoff, English High School was drenched by a passing rain shower leaving the field slick which contributed to a number of bad snaps throughout the game. The Bandits came up empty on two first quarter trips to the red-zone when their first field goal was blocked and their second attempt went awry due to a bad snap. After a scoreless first half, the Bandits got a big kickoff return by Darryl Hodge to open the second half. JD Brooks would punch it in from the 3 yard line to give the Bandits a 7-0 lead. The Wolfpack came right back when Thaddeus Brown connected with Andre Williams for a 54 yard catch and run touchdown. The snap on the extra point sailed past the kicker leaving the Wolfpack a point behind 7-6. The Bandits’ Jimbo Midgette would block a 4th quarter Wolfpack punt, giving the Bandits good field position but their field goal attempt was wide left giving the Wolfpack one last chance to pull out the win. That chance ended when Alvin Edwards made his 10th interception of the year to end the game. The Bandits (9-2) next play the Southern Maine Raging Bulls (11-0) at Deering High School in Portland, ME on Nov. 1st at 7pm. The Bulls defeated the Metrowest Colonials 35-0 to reach the conference semifinals.
